Morgane Parmentier’s artistic approach centers on humanity, psychology, and resilience. She explores the emotions, vulnerabilities, and tensions that we all learn to hide, as well as the pressures and obstacles that individuals may face in society, particularly as women.
Through her works, she seeks to bring these inner fragilities to light and to examine how they contribute to the construction of identity. The reference to Kintsugi (the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics by highlighting their cracks with gold) plays a central role in her work. Morgane Parmentier applies this principle to the human form: flaws, wounds, and hardships are no longer concealed but revealed as traces of a history and manifestations of a capacity for transformation.
This reflection is visually expressed through a constant search for balance between opposing elements. Light interacts with shadow; precise brushwork with freer, more chaotic areas; representation with abstraction; and fragility with strength. Textural effects, fractures, and cracks play a full part in this tension and give structure to the surface of his works.
Her deliberately limited color palette favors shades of blue, black, and beige, accented with gold. Gold serves as an element of revelation: it highlights imperfections, accompanies breaks, and symbolically transforms the flaw into a point of light.
Her work thus creates a space in which what is usually hidden can become visible. By giving presence to fragilities and fractures, Morgane Parmentier (Nonoss) questions not so much the wound itself as what it reveals about the individual, their identity, and their capacity to rebuild themselves.
Biography
Morgane Parmentier is a French painter whose artistic journey began in childhood through her exposure to art. Introduced to art by her mother, a graduate of the Troyes School of Fine Arts, she began visiting museums at a very young age and quickly developed a keen interest in drawing and the visual arts, which would remain with her throughout her high school years.
However, she pursued a university degree in Anglo-Saxon languages, literature, and history, and later earned a second bachelor’s degree in international business. She then spent about ten years working in international business in the British, North American, and Asian markets, followed by careers in communications, graphic design, and web design.
At the same time, she continued to develop her painting practice. In 2015, she created her first acrylic paintings on canvas and began exhibiting locally two years later. In 2022, after several years of balancing her professional career with her artistic practice, she chose to devote herself fully to her projects by becoming a professional painter while also founding her own communications agency.
Known by the artist name “Nonoss”, a family nickname she adopted with her very first painting, Morgane Parmentier initially developed a style inspired by pop art and street art. Beginning in 2025, her work shifted toward more intimate explorations of identity, psychology, resilience, and duality. In 2026, she chose to sign her work with her real name, marking a new phase in the development of her artistic practice.
Her work has been featured in various art fairs and exhibitions, notably at the Vittel International Art Fair, the Lunéville International Art Fair, and the Boulogne-Billancourt Fine Arts Fair, where one of her portraits received the “Young Talent” award. She also presented her work in solo exhibitions in Lyon and Brienne-le-Château. Her career has been featured in several local press and media outlets, particularly in connection with her exhibitions, her participation in Art and Found Day, and her nomination as “Artist of the Year” in her hometown of Troyes.
Her works have been acquired by private collections in France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the United States. In 2026, one of her works was also added to the public collection of the Lavau correctional facility (France).
From Nonoss to Morgane Parmentier
After creating art for years under the name Nonoss, Morgane Parmentier decided in 2026 to sign her works with her own name. Much more than just a change in signature, this marked a new phase in her artistic journey.
