“Valerie” reveals a two-dimensional face: one that is visible and immediate, illuminated by light, and another that is more internal, left in the shadows, like an elusive part of her identity.

The portrait “Valerie” plays with the duality between exposed identity and that which remains hidden. Features appear in fragments, some clear, others left in shadow, as if to suggest that everyone reveals part of themselves while keeping another, more secret part hidden from view. This tension between visibility and interiority gives the face a presence that is both familiar and elusive, inviting the viewer to question their own way of existing between what is shown and what is left unsaid.
