Abstract painting "Towards the surface" ("Vers la surface") on a square 3D canvas, with golden embossing on a dark blue background with a gradation from black to white, with gold metallic reflections.
"Vers la surface" was inspired by a visitor to one of my exhibitions in France. A regular diver told me that one of my abstracts looked exactly like what he saw as down into the depths of the water, he looked towards the surface.
I try in all my abstracts to bring out the light from the dark, and the idea of the blinding sunlight on the surface contrasting with the darkness of the depths appealed to me. The gold brings more light and is reminiscent of the sun's glitter reflected in the water.
My abstract paintings try to show that despite the darkness, light is always present. An opposition between light and shadow, which do not exist without each other.
