Laura

Laura is part of an exploration of identity and what lies beneath appearances. Her face seems calm, almost suspended, built from fragments of light and shadow that suggest a shifting, unstable presence. Some areas remain intentionally irregular and unfinished, as if the image itself were still forming, allowing deeper tensions to surface beneath the visible layer.
It is only under UV light that another dimension of the work appears. A hand emerges and covers her mouth, a gesture whose meaning remains uncertain: protection, restraint, or silence imposed. This hidden element transforms the reading of the portrait. The painting thus unfolds on two levels: what we believe we see at first glance, and what only reveals itself in the dark, hinting at an identity far more complex than the image initially suggests.
