This portrait is part of my “Strong and Contrasting Female Characters” collection, where I use popular culture icons to convey a feminist message: all women can be strong in their own way, despite their shadowy or vulnerable side. You just have to let your light shine through, as symbolised by these golden spots. Here, Sansa Stark is a character who goes from being a naive and obedient little girl to a warrior and a queen, finding her strength and true nature through terrible trials. So it was only natural that I should depict her at the end of the series when she finds herself transformed.

But the light always comes out in the end, represented by the golden aura that seems to emanate from her. I love Sansa Stark's character, especially her evolution and metamorphosis at the end. She goes from a naive and obedient little girl to a warrior and then a queen, finding her strength and true nature after terrible trials.
