Original acrylic painting on canvas, on frame 92x73cm. Blue and gold figurative pop art portrait painting of Claire Fraser (Outlander), on a blue gradient background with golden spots.
This portrait is part of my “Strong and Contrasting Female Characters” collection, where I use popular culture icons to convey a feminist message: all women can be strong in their own way, despite their shadowy or vulnerable side. You just have to let your light shine through, as symbolised by these golden spots. Here, Claire Fraser is a character who represents the feminist fighter: coming from the future, she fights and proclaims her opinions to prove that women can be the intellectual equal of men in a time where women are silenced. She is full of doubts : torn between the past and her lost present.

A colourful pop art portrait of Caitriona Balfe as Claire Fraser (Outlander), intense and contrasting, depicting this black-haired woman with a confident gaze, against a gradient blue background and golden splashes. This portrait is part of my "Strong and Contrasting Female Characters" collection, in which I choose to represent female characters who are both strong and fragile. But the light always comes out in the end, represented by the golden aura that seems to emanate from her. I like Claire Fraser's character, because she is the embodiment of feminism and of "the fighter": accused of witchcraft in a time when women should not proclaim their opinions and especially not hold knowledge.
